Christian Marriage is the sacrament by which two people become one flesh and commit themselves to mutual love and care for their whole lives, under God’s blessing and guidance.

We are delighted to welcome and assist you in celebrating one of the most important days of your life in a cathedral-like setting, where tradition and a personal touch makes it a day for everyone to enjoy and remember.

Marriage Law

The 2008 Church of England Marriage Measure extended the right to be married in churches beyond the previous conditions of residence in the parish or membership of the electoral roll. In addition to these you have an entitlement to be married at St. Michael’s if you fulfil one of the following "qualifying connections":

To discuss the legal eligibility for your wedding please contact the Parish Office.

We also offer a service of Renewal of Vows for married couples, and marriage blessings after a civil ceremony.

Before a marriage can take place at St. Michael’s, certain legal processes and checks may need to take place. This work is quite often carried out by solicitors appointed by the Diocese of Birmingham, who will do all that they can to advice on the collation of the documentation required.

As part of your preparation for marriage at St. Michael’s, we will ask you to come to Mass on a Sunday or Thursday, and attend two preparation sessions. These are each held on a Saturday once a month at 11.30 a.m. in the church room.
